A client who currently lives abroad was returning to the UK for a short visit and wanted to make the most of his limited time here by putting plans in place for his UK assets.
With only a small window of opportunity available, he contacted Soteria Estate Planning to discuss his estate and arrange a Will covering the assets he holds in the UK.
We understood that flexibility would be important. With the client only in the country for a short period, our team rearranged existing diary commitments to make sure we could meet with him at our office at a time that worked around his visit.
During the initial meeting, we took the time to understand his circumstances, discuss his UK estate and establish exactly what he wanted his Will to achieve. This allowed us to take his instructions and begin preparing documents tailored to his wishes.
Although the client's UK estate was relatively straightforward, this did not change the level of care and attention we provided.
At Soteria Estate Planning, we believe every client deserves the same personal and thorough service, regardless of the size or complexity of their estate. In this case, that meant adapting our diary and working around the client's limited availability so he could take an important step towards getting his affairs in order while he was in the UK.
This planning story demonstrates that estate planning doesn't always need to involve a large or complicated estate. Sometimes, it's simply about recognising what needs to be put in place and finding the right opportunity to do it.
Whether you live in the UK or abroad, if you have assets in the UK that you want to protect and pass on according to your wishes, our team can help you understand your options.
