Heath Ledger’s Will: A Reminder to Keep Yours Up to Date

When actor Heath Ledger died unexpectedly in 2008 at just 28 years old, he left behind a Will - but there was one significant problem. It had been written before the birth of his daughter, Matilda.

As a result, Matilda wasn't named in the Will, which instead left his estate to his parents and sisters. Ledger's family later confirmed that the estate would ultimately go to his daughter.

While Heath Ledger's estate was dealt with outside England and Wales and different laws applied, his story highlights an important lesson for all of us: making a Will isn't necessarily a one-time job.

Major life changes such as having a child, getting married, separating, buying a property or experiencing a significant change in your finances are all good reasons to review your Will.
