Bringing the Community Together Through Football

At Soteria Estate Planning, we're passionate about supporting our local community whenever we can.

On Friday 19th June, I had the pleasure of visiting Alexandra Grange Care Home in Wokingham as a representative of Wokingham Town Football Club, where I've proudly coached the senior team for more than ten years.

With both of my children also playing for the club's youth teams, Wokingham Town has become a huge part of our family life, so when the opportunity arose to visit the residents, it was one I was delighted to be involved in.

Football Has a Way of Bringing People Together

With the World Cup capturing everyone's attention, football was already a popular topic of conversation.

I spent time talking to the residents about Wokingham Town Football Club, sharing the club's story, its role within the local community and what it's like being involved behind the scenes.

What followed was a wonderful afternoon of conversation.

We chatted about everyone's favourite clubs, unforgettable matches and the players who had inspired them over the years. While the World Cup created plenty of excitement, many residents were just as enthusiastic to talk about grassroots football and the importance of local clubs within the community.

It was a real reminder that football has an incredible ability to bring people together, regardless of age.

More Than Just a Visit

One of the highlights of the afternoon was simply seeing how much the conversations meant to the residents.

Sharing memories, laughing together and talking about a lifelong passion created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that everyone enjoyed.

Community is built through moments like these.

Taking the time to listen, share stories and make genuine connections can have a lasting impact, and it was a privilege to spend time with everyone at Alexandra Grange.
