At Soteria Estate Planning, we love celebrating members of our team who go above and beyond to support great causes, and this year we're incredibly proud of Ian Macbeth for completing the London Marathon in aid of First Days Children's Charity.
The London Marathon is one of the most iconic races in the world, attracting thousands of runners and even more supporters lining the streets to cheer them on. Reflecting on the experience, Ian described the atmosphere as "like no other race", praising the incredible encouragement from spectators throughout the 26.2-mile course.
Despite facing a challenging year of injuries and not being able to complete a full training week since December, Ian showed remarkable determination. After building back his fitness over the final few weeks before race day, he set himself a sensible pacing strategy and crossed the finish line in an impressive 3 hours and 19 minutes – around 40 minutes faster than his 2021 London Marathon time and his second-fastest marathon ever.
As part of the First Days Children's Charity team, Ian helped contribute to an incredible fundraising total of more than £26,000, supporting families and children who need it most.
His fundraising efforts don't stop there either. Just one week after the marathon, Ian took on another huge challenge – an 80km overnight race through Snowdonia – demonstrating his continued commitment to raising money for charity.
We're delighted to recognise Ian's achievement and the positive impact his fundraising will have. Everyone at Soteria Estate Planning congratulates him on an outstanding performance and wishes him the very best of luck for his next challenge.
If you'd like to support Ian and First Days Children's Charity, donations are still welcome and every contribution helps make a real difference.
